Harbour View Cottage is new to the market from August 2008 and offers views that are ‘the true essence of Whitby’ The unrivalled spectacular views are not only of the harbour and picturesque ‘east side’, but also out to sea and up the River Esk towards the swing bridge and upper harbour. One of the 3 original cottages built on Cliff Street in early 1600’s, it has been sympathetically rebuilt and restored, maintaining many of the original features whilst incorporating modern plumbing and central heating. All three bedrooms have original exposed timber beams and the lounge has exposed stone wall to one side. An ideal place to sit and watch the world and time go by and feel the tensions and strains of modern living fade away.

Based over 4 floors, all rooms are very spacious. The 18 ft x 17 ft lounge is on the second floor and has double French windows with a Juliet balcony, plus two other large windows. These offer an unrivalled outlook of the Abbey and St Marys Church, where you can enjoy a timeless picture of Whitby. Watch the lines of people climbing the 199 steps and children playing on Tate Hill Beach. See the pleasure boats pass and perhaps at evening time watch the rowing crews practice, the Fishing Fleet leaving to sea and maybe the lifeboat being called out. All of this can be observed from the comfort of your lounge where two large comfortable leather sofas are provided, plus TV, DVD player, stereo system and Sky. These are available for your entertainment should the views not absorb your attention.

On the top floor there is an en suite bedroom with a leather king size bed, oak floors and views that are truly panoramic. There is a semi circular window facing up the river Esk as well as windows to the front with harbour views. Catch up with the morning news on the flat screen TV.

The first floor has two bedrooms , the first is a double with harbour views from both windows - a gentle start to your morning watching Whitby begin its day from the comfort of your double bed!! There is also a 19 inch LCD TV for your enjoyment.

Next to this is a bedroom with full size bunk beds and a window to the Cliff Street side of the property. There is also a fully tiled spacious family bathroom with shower over bath on this floor.

On the ground floor, there is the brand new kitchen which has integrated appliances – dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and freezer. It also has solid Oak worktops and a Belfast sink. An extendable Oak dining table with 6 chairs is provided for your dining experience and there is a window seat to enjoy amiable conversation whilst cooking. Radio and iPod docking station (does not support charging of some iPods)

PLEASE NOTE - Harbour View Cottage dates from 1300 and the staircases are the original winding staircases. Whilst made easier with the addition of hanrails and grab handles, it still may not be suitable for those with limited mobility
